Nick Mathews is an actor, activist and fitness enthusiast based in New York City. Born and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Mathews studied at Rutgers University where he majored in Theater Arts (BA) and later continued his actor training at The William Esper School of Acting in New York City under the tutelage of Barbara Marchant. Upon completing the two-year intensive conservatory program, he was quickly picked up for representation and cast in roles on Guiding Light and As The World Turns. He then was cast in Far Away by Caryl Churchill, and award-winning director Stephen Daldry at The New York Theatre Workshop starring Frances McDormand, Marin Ireland and Chris Messina. He later continued his education with Masterclasses at Beverly Hills Playhouse East which lead to him starring in the critically acclaimed award-winning international hit show In Between Men, a groundbreaking streaming series. Mathews has later gone on to appear in several television shows including Political Animals and The Mysteries of Laura. He also appeared opposite Sienna Miller in An Imperfect Murder, which world premiered at the 2017 Venice Film Festival in a prestigious out of competition slot. Most recently he guest starred in FBI on CBS.
Mathews is an outspoken advocate for causes that benefit marginalized people, including victims of domestic violence, racialized violence and sexual abuse. He has been involved with Center for Hope & Safety, a non-profit organization based in Rochelle Park, NJ which provides housing and crucial resources for DV victims. He serves proudly as a current volunteer and advocate for other survivors.
